Is this it? Is this the one? Has the All About Symbian “here’s what’s new in the Ovi Store” finally found a Flight Control-esque game that rivals the line drawing Air Traffic Control game on iOS? Even with the smaller pixel size of our smartphones, there should be something out there? Could it be Control Tower is the answer my mobile gaming quest?
Steve interviews Tom Ojala, CEO of Joikuspot, the software that turns your Symbian smartphone into a portable hot-spot, something that other handset users look at with envy. Roadblocks? Yep, Google, Apple, Samsung and RIM didn’t allow us to port JoikuSpot to their platform. They said it was impossible for them to grant a small company like ours access to their OS platform for security reasons. Very annoying: both for us and for potential customers. The problem is when you call your smartphone poker dice game Yacht, and the scoring system is radically different to every other version out there. Still, Blue Particle have a polished app (reviewed here on AAS), even if it feels like it’s arrived from a parallel universe where Yahtzee is subtly different.
…or at least the design specifications. Can’t help thinking that if this had arrived with the 5800, or at the very least on the N8, the reception from the geekerati might have been a little different.
Nokia is pretty proud of its green credentials throughout the company, and their latest branded game, Climate Mission 3D, wants to make sure that smartphone users are also aware of what they can do as individuals. But like any good lesson, it’s far better to hide the education inside a game. Which is what Nokia has done here. My review is over on All About Symbian.
