Europe’s Heartbeat: Remembering Tony Currie
It’s been some time since I posted the ‘Listen Again’ links for Europe’s Heartbeat, the monthly radio show I host that features new music from across the continent.
This month’s show was particularly tough. It was the first show recorded since my good friend, Tony Currie, passed away. Tony’s radio career was immense, and he tirelessly championed the art form and encouraged everyone he met to be their best. Not long after I started in community radio (curiously, after I started podcasting), he got in touch, and we’ve been making radio together since 2014 at Radio Six International. That includes Europe’s Heartbeat, as well as adventures like the UK broadcasts of Junior Eurovision, US broadcasts of the Eurovision Song Contest, several live UK Election shows, community shows during the pandemic, Christmas specials, one-off experiments, and much more.
I pay tribute to him in this month’s Heartbeat.
Listen to the show on Mixcloud.
And the show must go on, so the show features new music from The Temperance Movement, Misty Miller, Jon Henrik Fjällgren, Kaliopi, Gåte, Rosa Linn, Placebo, Chvrches, and Morgan Wade and John Paul White.
