Welcome To 22nd Season Of The Edinburgh Fringe Podcast
It’s time for the Edinburgh Fringe to get underway, which means it’s time for the Edinburgh Fringe Podcast Show to get underway once more.
The podcast has run every Fringe since 2005 and has hosted over 1,000 guests in that time. Much of that number is front-loaded to the first ten years, with the daily shows having anme and as many eight-minute-long interviews as hour-long runtimes could be packed in. The pace is a little more sedate but deeper now, with each show featuring a single interview that runs about 25 minutes.
The goal remains the same: news from the biggest arts festival in the world, with interviews and reviews from the world of comedy, theatre, and music.
As with any podcast launch (and it always feels like a launch each year since the podcast goes dark from the end of one Fringe to the start of the next), the first three previews are published: Guy Masterson, A Better Memory, and Antigone 1989.
The show moves into daily coverage starting today. You can follow it by adding the Edinburgh Fringe Show RSS feedto your podcast app. Direct links for popular podcast platforms (and Spotify) can be found here. I’ll also tuck YouTube versions of the show (the classic standby of audio with a static card) on my channel, more for reference than gathering traffic.
Or you could turn to the radio. We’ll be partnering with Radio Six International, which will broadcast a weekend omnibus online and over the air, finishing with a pan-European broadcast on 1,467kHz (204m) from the million-watt transmitter in Roumoules, France… which should be enough to reach radios across Europe and as far afield as Iceland.
