Adding adverts in the copy ‘n’ paste of Newspaper websites
With the new design of this site (yes, after two weeks it is still ‘new’ given the years and years there’s been a blog at this URL) there’s a lot more quoting of stories around the web, and in the last post, I took a snippet from The Mirror newspaper website. And was offered a voucher to go camping for 95p!
I’m used to seeing sites embed a “read more at[ URL]” line of text after copying text from a site – it’s actually quite handy as I need to grab the URL for the plug-in that alters the permalinks in the RSS feed and front page – but this time there was something extra. A second line of text, offering a camping voucher. Here’s what was appended:

Looks like every single bit of real estate is being investigated for potential income. I’d love to see what the impressesions and click-through rates are on these small ads. Can anyone oblige?
