Yes, a case can be made that the games coverage, the TV reviews, the showbiz pages are all things that fall into the ‘non-Scottish features and news’ content that the Trinity Mirror restructuring announcement talked of sharing with the Mirror papers and the People. But it’s not just the words that are being cut away, it’s the essence of the paper – the recognisable faces, the distinctive voices and tones that make the Record what it is. With the new design of this site (yes, after two weeks it is still ‘new’ given the years and years there’s been a blog at this URL) there’s a lot more quoting of stories around the web, and in the last post, I took a snippet from The Mirror newspaper website. And was offered a voucher to go camping for 95p! I’m used to seeing sites embed a “read more at[ URL]” line of text after copying text from a site – it’s actually quite handy as I need to grab the URL for the plug-in that alters the permalinks
