Why The Current N-Gage Games Are Crap.
Simpla answer, because it’s going to take the programmers and developers a lot longer to get up to speed with the system. All the signs are that this summer’s Reset Generation (preview here) will be the first ‘true’ N-Gage game for the new gaming platform of S60 v3. In short order Krisse and I looked (electronically) at him and said that it’s way too early to make that sort of comparison. After all, the games Steve is probably remembering from the N-Gage classic are titles like Pathway to Glory or System Rush, while the new N-Gage titles springing to mind are titles like Midnight Pool (AAN’s review) and Sims 2:Pets (AAN’s review). This isn’t a fair comparison – not because they are different games, but because they are at different stages in the life cycle of their respective platforms.
I have to compare this garbage to games like Super Monkey Ball and the Crash Nitro Kart game for the Iphone, that my workmate can’t stop showing off with, those are basically launch games for the iphone. Nokia and the games developers have had enough time to pull together a stable gaming platform, I bought Creatures of the Deep for the N-Gage, and those KERN-EXEC 3 errors that crop up are inexcusable, and the N-Gage 2.0 software still has a few flaws and bugs.
I love Nokia phones, the N82 is great piece of kit and its the best phone I’ve ever owned, but the software by Nokia and the whole purchasing process for N-Gage games is so amateurish when compared to Apple and Itunes. I bought some games for my Ipod Touch and, jesus, its so simple, and best of all it all works perfectly.
