Move Over Conan O’Brien, Terry Wogan Just Beat You

Remember all the talk of what would Conan O’Brien do after he left The Tonight Show? And many in Silicon Valley were looking to him to take up the mantle of the one and only true online talk show that matter? Well, Coco, you missed your window. This weekend saw a rather interesting experiment by the BBC. Sure it was all dressed up as a new show, and an exciting format that’s a little bit different, but a new show that embraced multiple online media elements, with enough familiarity to not scare away an existing audience? A host with a

Conan Online

I’ve been watching the fun and games over The Tonight Show with a mixture of awe and incredulity. It shouldn’t be a surprise to regular readers that I have a huge amount of respect for Johnny Carson – in fact the single phrase I pushed as the “takeaway” from my “How to interview people” session at Blogworld Expo was Watch lots of Carson. Upshot is, popular late night host Conan O’Brien is now leaving The Tonight Show for destinations unknown. While it’s likely that Fox will eventually take him on board, there will be a lot of people (Revision3!) suggesting

Going Digital at Eurovision

Over on All About Symbian I’ve written up the best way to legally enjoy the fun of Eurovision on your smartphone: With the focus of the contest being music, and  growing realisation that mobile media is where the action is, I wondered just how accessible the Grand Prix of Europe is for someone with a smartphone who wants to stay ‘within the rules’ and not head out to the dark corners of the internet. Mad Men Crashes To Low TV Figures – Does It Matter With Bittorrent Out There?

Mad Men has returned to UK screens, with a heavily trailed start to Season Two on BBC4. And the results were 240,000 (ish) viewers. That holds up pretty well to the Season One premiere that caught 270,000, A drop of 9% year on year is pretty respectable. Whether the number of viewers is worth what the BBC paid for, I don’t know. But what I would love to know is how many people in the UK have caught Mad Men via ‘the dark corners of the internet.’ That’s a hard number to calculate (if only the TV industry had a

Legal Music Online? What If I Can’t Find It?

Dear BPI, I’ve not recieved one of your lovely letters, but I would like to hear an answer to a point I have regarding music online. What if I can’t find a music track or album online? I’m sure you’re familiar with artists who don’t appear electroncially, such as The Beatles, or do not wish to appear in certain stores (Kid Rock and Garth Brookes to name two). What happens when there is music that I would like to buy, but it’s not available legally? This happened recently; after Eurovision 2008 I decided to grab some of the albums of
