Good news! Samsung sold 500,000 smartwatches! Except… I wonder if that counts the return rate, the number bundled with a Galaxy S4 and S5 and placed in a drawer, and those that are still sitting on shelves but classified as sold?
So Android Tablets have a market share (in sales) of around 56%, but in terms of browser share they have 28%, in terms of the share of mobile advertising it drops down to 14%. What’s gone wrong, or do desk drawers really like the Nexus 7?

A small number of geeks, chasing after even smaller quantities of end-of-lined geek toys, are keeping the price high. That does not mean that the HP Touchpad would have been a commercial success, nor does it mean that the price is reflecting the general feeling of a machine that should still be on sale. Geeks will buy one everything they can get their hands on. Selling a few thousand is easy. Selling a few hundreds of thousands, to get a 0.1% share, that’s hard. And you need far more market share to make a going and profitable concern.
If you have 99.95% of the market, which was pretty much the case for the iPad at the start of the festive season, and one competitor comes in with some serious marketing spend and distribution capability (Amazon and the Kindle Fire Android tablet), then it’s only natural than your 99.95% market share is going to drop. The question that is of more interest is in the unit sales and the underlying trend of the iPad. I’ll put money that in the buying seasons, the iPad sales are hockey sticking.
