“Russian Roulette” Watch

Now that was tension. Last night on Channel 4 saw Derren Brown play Russian Roulette with a live bullet. Suprisingly, he survived. Vikki was really unsure about the program and what he was doing, but given that he showed the whole ‘How I recruited the Bullet Loader’ and how he was choosing someone that he could read it made rivetting watching. And then of course the showmanship of the last five minutes when we started at chamber three (they were all numbered) and he clicked round till firing chamber one (which was the live round) into a sandbag instead of

Munich and Oktoberfest

Right I’m back. Wow, that was fun. Having never been to Germany before (or abroad since I was 11 and went on holiday to Minorca) the whole thing was just so different. The centre of Munich didn’t look that much different ot the centre of any other city, but small things made me take notice.

Going Away for a Few Days

Just posting this (via the mobile) before jetting off to Munich for a few days. Yes Oktoberfest is on, but business calls and you’d be a fool and a communist to think that the Festival being on is just a coincidence. Not looking forward to leaving Vikki and Eilidh at home, but the Mother In Law is back on Monday so she’ll have compnay for the rest of the time. If anyone calls me, you’ll get the answerphone – but that’s free so I’ll still get all your messages (roaming answerphone is free) but at 30p to receive a call,

Introducing “This Is Mobile”

So here’s a little thing that Vikki and I have been working on. This Is Mobile is a news site that will look at PDA’s and Smartphones (so all the Microsoft, Palm, Symbian, Linux, Java and other devices that are ‘portable,’ but not laptops, okay?). Rather than re-write every single press release that comes out, TIM (we even have a nice abbreviation for the site) will link to the original news story. And while we’ll carry editorial at some point, the majority of that will be left to Your Symbian, All About Symbian and Mobitopia. TIM itself is not just

Mame Controls

The day to day use of your Mame cabinet is going to be through the stick and buttons on the control panel, so you need to spend some time designing it and laying it out. For the moment, consider what games you think you’ll want to play, how many buttons you need to play each game, and if things like a trackball or spinner are going to be needed.

Eilidh’s One Year Check Up

From Vikki: Just back from the hospital – Eilidh’s one year (ok, only six weeks late) appointment with the consultant. Because she’d been very ill when she was born and spent time in special care from four days old, the consultant has been keeping an eye on her development to make sure she isn’t suffering any lasting effects.
