Plans are afoot to reduce the traffic congestion at the peak of Mount Everest by… installing a ladder at the Hillary Step.

A ladder on the Hillary Step wouldn’t have helped Mallory much though, as he was making the ascent from the North. Interestingly the Chinese installed a ladder on Mallory’s route back in 1975 – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Steps
