Your mobile is the wallet of choice
Of the 2400 mobile visitors to m.myxer.com that we surveyed, 53% responded that they had made a purchase from their mobile phone. The largest group, 19%, said they made between 2 and 5 purchases a month. Surprisingly, 16% said that they make more than 10 purchases a month.
That’ a nice big sample size, and over half of them are confident to use their phone to buy stuff. Even allowing for a self-selection bias, that’s promising news for a lot of start-ups out there. And Paypal.

Having worked with TelCos on mPayment – I still fail to see while I need a new payment method, either on the mobile or for PoS.
Which problem does a new payment method or NFC solve…?
Ewan, thanks for mentioning the report! @Frank, our survey was not about payment methods, but rather about people making actual purchases of both digital and physical products right from their mobile phones. Thanks to smartphones, “mCommerce” is fast becoming a logical extension of “eCommerce.” :-)
