I wish the rain was falling from the sky in Edinburgh – right now it seems to be driving down like needles from a machine gun. Still, it is the Fringe, and the rain is a traditional component of the August celebrations. And with so many great shows, amazing stories and wonderful stunts, I just think of it as a bit of karma.

Today’s show has the darling of the press launches – all the press launches! – in the shape of illusionist Ali Cook. A spectacular Houdini style escape, all in a tiny room at the Fringe? You bet! Throw in the FT’s Mrs Moneypenny debuting on a Fringe stage and the Pick and Mixtape of Abandoman, and it’s another cracking Fringe podcast.
