While it\u2019s not quite Mashed, the Baker Street Irregular 2.0 crowd is sure to be in attendance\u2026 and yes that does include me.<\/p>\n<p> So I\u2019ll be at Imperial College on Friday and Saturday, attending a number of panels and discussions from the likes of Vodafone, Nokia, OMTP, Windows Mobile, Yahoo <a href=\"http:\/\/overtheair.org\/blog\/2009-schedule\/\">and many more.<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>And then it\u2019s the overnight building of something, possibly from these tools, possibly from other ideas, but all to do with mobile. The key of course is you build it at the event, no just bringing along something from the garage. What about the rules and goals for a hack at an event like this? Well, <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/tommorris\/\">Tom Morris on Twitter<\/a> just summed up my approach, so <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/tommorris\/statuses\/4157431264\">I shall quote him<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>All rules can be broken if breaking them causes magic, laughter and awesomeness without hurting anyone.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Having previously <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ewanspence.co.uk\/blog\/2008\/04\/05\/torchwood-swede-final-episode\/\">re-filmed the last episode of Torchwood<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ewanspence.co.uk\/blog\/2007\/06\/21\/hackday-london-the-story-of-beagle-3-pt-1\/\">launched a diet-coke powered spy rocket<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ewanspence.co.uk\/blog\/2008\/07\/07\/the-social-flight-sim-video\/\">flown a full size flight simulator around the world<\/a>, I think I can guarantee that this weekend\u2019s hack will be magic, will cause laughter, and should be as awesome as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=0dwKkl7Nydw\">Robin Cook resigning<\/a>\u2026<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"The Social Flight Sim\" style=\"border-top-width: 0px; display: block; border-left-width: 0px; float: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; border-right-width: 0px\" height=\"339\" alt=\"The Social Flight Sim\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ewanspence.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/image59.png\" width=\"445\" border=\"0\" \/><em>The Social Flight Sim in Action \u2013 Mashed Hackday 2008<\/em><\/p>\n<p>PS: there\u2019s always space on the project if people want to lend a hand \u2013 I do have a rough idea of what\u2019s going to happen and as well as some coders, there\u2019s space for people to help do the physical building, rigging up some lasers and projectors, do some cgi and real world modelling, and various other things.
