{"id":2312,"date":"2009-07-24T22:28:45","date_gmt":"2009-07-24T22:28:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ewanspence.com\/blog\/2009\/07\/24\/how-should-i-cover-the-fringe-with-the-new-web-tools\/"},"modified":"2009-07-24T22:28:45","modified_gmt":"2009-07-24T22:28:45","slug":"how-should-i-cover-the-fringe-with-the-new-web-tools","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ewanspence.co.uk\/blog\/2009\/07\/how-should-i-cover-the-fringe-with-the-new-web-tools\/","title":{"rendered":"How Should I Cover The Fringe With The New Web Tools?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With the Edinburgh Fringe fast approaching, I\u2019m thinking about the best way to cover the Fringe with the newest web tools.<\/p>\n<p>Naturally the core product is still the podcast \u2013 with a daily 30 minute show from August 7th through till August 31st available through this <a href=\"http:\/\/edinburghfringe.thepodcastnetwork.com\/feed\/\">podcast \/ RSS feed<\/a> (<a href=\"http:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/WebObjects\/MZStore.woa\/wa\/viewPodcast?id=78229922\">or via iTunes<\/a>), along with the weekly preview shows I\u2019m currently running.<\/p>\n<p>The question is what else to do? The rise of Twitter is the obvious tool to consider using (especially after the success of my Eurovision coverage), but the Fringe isn\u2019t a mass shared experience as the song contest was. The events are generally with small audiences (up to 100) and of course run in many instances over twenty nights.<\/p>\n<p>And of course the podcast is a mix of pre-recorded interviews that don\u2019t necessarily happen in the order that they go out on the podcast (nor even do they get recorded as sensibly as the night before) so I\u2019m not sure if a running commentary of who I\u2019m about to interview will work out, either.<\/p>\n<p>There have also bee a lot of intriguing web services launched in the last year that could be of some use, but which ones are of benefit here \u2013 remembering that my audience isn\u2019t built in to those in the way that Twitter, podcasts or blogging here have already established<\/p>\n<p>So I\u2019m\u2026 open to suggestions!<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"image\" style=\"border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-left: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-bottom: 0px\" height=\"358\" alt=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ewanspence.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/image47.png\" width=\"470\" border=\"0\" \/>&#160;<em>The Gilded Balloon Prepares Teviot for August<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With the Edinburgh Fringe fast approaching, I\u2019m thinking about the best way to cover the Fringe with the newest web tools.
