{"id":2185,"date":"2009-05-11T07:38:12","date_gmt":"2009-05-11T07:38:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ewanspence.com\/blog\/2009\/05\/11\/a-moscow-state-of-mind\/"},"modified":"2023-02-24T11:44:33","modified_gmt":"2023-02-24T11:44:33","slug":"a-moscow-state-of-mind","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ewanspence.co.uk\/blog\/2009\/05\/a-moscow-state-of-mind\/","title":{"rendered":"A Moscow State of Mind"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It would be wrong to say that I\u2019ve spent the weekend in Moscow, because most of my time has either been at the Eurovision Stadium, or at the various parties organised by each country, but I\u2019ve been travelling around a fair bit both on foot and on public transport.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s impressive that on the escalators in the Metro nobody is running up one side, like you see in London \u2013 everyone just stands there. Okay they\u2019re as long as the escalators at Angel, but still this is just weird. I also had to raise my eyes at the amount of wood panelling lining the escalators.<\/p>\n<p>What else has caught my eye? The number of McDonalds branches, a single Clarks shoe store, and more people smiling around the city than you see in London.
