No matter the economic climate, or any lingering web bubble, investors do not put down the cash unless they see some concrete plans.<\/p>\n<p>Now those plans could be a cold hard plan on how to make money from Twitter, or it could be something slightly less concrete in the near future but coupled with the volume of users (and intra-user connections). Whatever <em>The Big Book of Making Money in 140 Characters or Less<\/em> says, someone has seen it, and liked what they saw.<\/p>\n<p>So the question is, what business model will be revealed <a href=\"http:\/\/bits.blogs.nytimes.com\/2008\/12\/03\/why-twitter-turned-down-facebook\/\">before the end of March<\/a> this year, and will any of them match up to the entries in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alleyinsider.com\/2009\/1\/announcing-the-create-a-twitter-revenue-model-contest\">Silicon Alley Insider\u2019s prediction competition<\/a>? Is it an increased number of API calls in a TwitterPro model; consultancy services; ad insertion in personal stream; commercial entities having to pay; or something else?<\/p>\n<p>Most importantly, can they make the jump without people jumping to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ewanspence.co.uk\/blog\/2009\/01\/07\/independent-tools-are-the-keys-to-the-web\/\">a federated version<\/a>?
