{"id":1826,"date":"2009-01-20T23:14:30","date_gmt":"2009-01-20T23:14:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ewanspence.com\/blog\/2009\/01\/20\/dopplrs-personal-annual-reports-go-viral\/"},"modified":"2009-01-21T22:04:39","modified_gmt":"2009-01-21T22:04:39","slug":"dopplrs-personal-annual-reports-go-viral","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ewanspence.co.uk\/blog\/2009\/01\/dopplrs-personal-annual-reports-go-viral\/","title":{"rendered":"Dopplr&#8217;s Personal Annual Reports Go Viral"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A nice touch from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dopplr.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Dopplr<\/a>, the social network that collates your journeys around the world (such as visiting conferences like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sxsw.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">SXSW<\/a>), lets you know which of your friends will be close to you when travelling, and then doing interesting thing with your data.<\/p>\n<p>Their latest one, an Annual Report for an individual traveller, looks at your data for 2008 and brings out some fun facts along the useful stuff\u2026.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I travelled 18% of the distance to the moon.<\/li>\n<li>I spent 52 days travelling.<\/li>\n<li>I spent most of my travelling time in Austin.<\/li>\n<li>I used 79% of the carbon that a Hummer Truck uses in a year.<\/li>\n<li>My \u2018personal velocity\u2019 was 4.7 mph\u2026 which is about the same as a <em>duck<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It\u2019s also perfect blogging material for people who receive the report, and that gives Dopplr a <a href=\"http:\/\/patphelan.net\/2008-travel-report-by-dopplr\/\" target=\"_blank\">viral-like spread<\/a> of the news and some good linkage.
