Ballmer knows exactly where Windows Phone has gone in twelve months

In a year, we’ve gone from very small to … very small. Like many mobile operating systems, Windows Phone needs a beach-head. Unlike WebOS and RIM though, it’s not just a carrier partner in the US, it’s the global distribution and manufacturing resources of Nokia. Which gives it a better shot than most and should provide many more digital column inches as the new devices arrive. But will it be Gallipoli or Overlord?

I’ve no doubt that Ballmer’s Microsoft has energy and conviction, but is it being applied properly?
