THose who are SXSW regulars will know that every year I set a time for a ‘get together’ breakfast at Magnolia Cafe on South Congress. This year is no different, and while I know many of you will already have the time and date in your diary (it’s not like it hasn’t changed in six years), here’s the Facebook event page for your RSVP’s. Riding the Social Breakfast at SXSW

I’ve already mentioned it in the SXSW recap, but thank you again to everyone who turned up and made the start of SXSW on the Saturday morning so brilliant and intimate and friendly for another year – even though technically the fun started on Thursday night for many of us. Adele managed to grab this wonderful shot (on Flickr), and I’m going to call it “Surfing Social” which pretty much sums up my mindset during SXSW – bounce around, meet everyone, ride the waves you find and have fun!

SXSW Interactive Social Breakfast – 2010 Edition

As South by Southwest looms on the events horizon, all the little bits and pieces of other smaller parties and get together that are happening in Austin pop up. The Social Breakfast is my contribution to the calendar of SXSW Interactive. This year is the third official year of the breakfast, and as always the premise is very simple. Small Update to the SXSW Interactive Social Breakfast

One of the mails I got after announcing this year’s SXSWi Social Breakfast was from the owners of the Magnolia Cafe, asking how they could help make sure the SXSW folks would be able to meet each other during breakfast. After some lovely email discussion, the Interactive Social Breakfast will now be focussed in the Patio area of Magnolia’s which will be just for the meeting. Who says Web 2.0 doesn’t work? Signups, discussions, pictures, etc are all over on the Facebook Event page. I’ve also had a few people ask if there could be a similar event for SXSW

SXSW Interactive Social Breakfast – 2009 Edition

Following on the almost success of last year, I’m announcing the SXSW Interactive Social Breakfast for 2009. The formula for this isn’t as detailed as those put on around the world by others around the world (notably Jeff Pulver). In short, I’m definitely going to Magnolia’s for breakfast on the morning of Saturday 14th March, at 8am. Why Magnolia’s? Because many SXSW years ago I needed breakfast – I jumped in a taxi and asked for the best local place that the driver would go to. He took me to Magnolia’s, and it’s been in my SXSW calendar ever since.
