As everyone who knows what RSS stands for heads to Austin for South by Southwest Interactive, the rest of the world eagerly awaits SXSW Music (or is insanely jealous that they’re not going and their co-workers are). Music was their first, the rest of the festival happened later. You may recall during January I spent a week travelling with a number of Intel based Mobile Internet Devices (MID). Along with three other bloggers, the Mid Moves project proved to be a substantial hit… so much so that there’ll be a replay during SXSW interactive. One thing we did do as a team was record a podcast at the end of our tour, which is now live. Okay, so the bottom line first… the Edinburgh Twestival (on the night) raised just short of £3,500, which I think is a fantastic total. There are still some auction prizes and other bits you can be involved in so head over to the website. I was MC for the night, and given the crowd this was a new challenge for me – after all you cant rehearse jokes about Twitter, Facebook and Fail-Whales in a regular comedy club, and as the event kept pretty much to time and there weren’t a huge number of complaints from the audience I’ll score
Just spotted this over on the BBC News website, a series of 5 minute interview with various people, chaired by Matthew Stadlen. They’ve just posted one for Michael Portillo, and it’s left me feeling a little bit… cheated. It’s clear that a lot of preparation has been done by Stadlen on his subjects, and I can’t see any notes or list of questions, but there seems to be one thing missing in these interviews, and that is listening to the answers.
