In all the journalistic knee-jerk reactions, tired cliches, and urban myth that I expect from the UK mainstream media in any coverage of the Eurovision Song Contest, it always surprises me to see when a journalist actually gets the Contest, and little hints pop up in their writing that say to me they are a closet fan. Step forward Stuart Heritage of The Guardian… I think you are one of us… It remains to be seen whether Bonnie Tyler can match – or even beat – Englebert Humperdinck’s result, but she’s already got one thing going for her.
