“Two mobile companies, both alike in dignity, In fair Redmond and Espoo, where we lay our podcast”

[audio:http://feeds.soundcloud.com/stream/108699020-rafeblandford-aawp-insight-74-microsoft-and.mp3] The AAWP podcast spent all of yesterday’s show talking over the Microsoft/Nokia deal in some detail, with Rafe lending a lot of detail, numbers, and insight, while I focussed on the conspiracy theories, mad plans, and a bit of Shakespeare.

Steve reviews the Nokia Lumia 520

Nokia pushes Windows Phone hard into the £100 pay as you go market with the Lumia 520. The more Nokia push Windows Phone down into this price territory, the better it will do, I suspect – budget Android phones tend to be slow and clunky, whereas the 520, on the whole, flies. Assuming that Windows Phone continues to grow, I suspect we’ll be looking back in a year’s time and realising just how much the Lumia 520 and 620

Windows Phone needs to maintain the Xbox Live weekly schedule

All About Windows Phone: One of the quiet triumphs of the Windows Phone system, at least for gamers, was the regularity of the Xbox Live releases. Because this is one promise that is in Microsoft’s power to

The New York Times misses the target on Windows Phone

The NYT app works, but it’s not stunning in any way. It does deliver what it sets out to do, and no more. What it does it does well, the presentation feels a little bit more than a block of text, and it carries over the layout that will be familiar to those of the full-web and print editions. My issue is how the NYT app feels when used next to other applications from other newspapers and media organisations. It feels unfinished, slap-dash, and lacking all the innovation other Windows Phone apps have.
