The ultimate disaster that will spoil the 2012 Olympics

“The mobile networks are already facing a capacity crunch that, without widespread, consistent wi-fi, will leave people unable to do the most basic things such as keeping up to date with the latest travel situation and getting directions while out and about.” My FSM, an Olympic Games where people won’t be able to use Twitter or Facebook! What shall we do? Err… ask every Olympic Games organiser in history how they managed without all these gadgets and just watched people run round a cinder track? Besides, I’m pretty sure the small print in London’s contract means that people can’t Tweet/Facebook/Hurdlepile

Will it be Baku? Will it be Rome? We’ll just have to wait and see.

But before the big decision, Paul Jordan has taken a look at why taking Eurovision in 2012 to Baku has been causing so many headaches: Immediately following Azerbaijan’s victory there was speculation concerning the hosting of Eurovision in Baku in 2012. A lot to take in? Probably, but I’m just glad it didn’t hit next week when the Fringe gets under way!

SXSW 2012 Panel Picker opens, let the popularity contest begin

South by Southwest has opened up their submission system for the 2012 Interactive, Film and Music panels. Submit your ideas from now until Mid-July, and then the internet will vote on which ideas it thinks it wants to hear about in March next year – or simply vote for the panel with Felicia Day on it… just because. I’ve a doozy of a panel idea, which will be going up next week, once I check in with Eric, Rachel and the rest of my SouthBy Posse. (And yes, this really belongs on SXSW Baby! but we’re still fighting Brad’s B2Evo/PHP/EE
