O’Reilly – The IRC Funky Weirdness
Every conference you go to, you take away something from it, make lots of friends, and have one over-riding image. eTech is no different for me. So let’s talk about that over-riding image. Walking into the lounge downstairs and witnessing thirty people having a conversation in such noisy conditions that you can here a pin drop. Occasionnaly someone raises their arm to indicate who they are IRL. Because everyone in the room is in the same IRC channel (either #etech or #joiito) talking to each other. It’s an incredibly weird experience. It’s even more weird when you’re at the keynote

O’Reilly Diary – Saturday
So, here’s the first of seven days worth of entries from my time at the O’Reilly Emerging Tech Conference. Today… travelling to the USA.
Off To San Diego
Just getting everything together to go to O’Reilly’s Emerging Technology Conference. San Diego bound tomorrow at 5.30 am from the house. There’s an obscene amount of mobile phone tech coming with me to demo OPL on 3 (4?) platforms and over various devices. Plus the massive OPL giveaways of Vexed, SameGame and FuleLog (via Martin Dehler). Should be fun, but nervous as anything with the distance and time away from Vikki and Eilidh… Oh, and a big thank you to Ron and Marijke. I think it’ll be a big hit.
