British Airways Strikes, GDC and SXSW

Here’s how to avoid industrial action impacting on your plans to get from the UK to either GDC in San Francisco on March 8th, or SXSW in Austin starting on March 11th. Don’t fly British Airways. Sara Lacy laid into the rise of even more elitism on display at the TED conference last week, but this quote, from her rant about the TED conference caught my eye: Now when the day’s sessions are done there’s a hierarchy of parties throughout the LA-area with strict lists and security. As South by Southwest looms on the events horizon, all the little bits and pieces of other smaller parties and get together that are happening in Austin pop up. Getting yourself organised for SXSW 2010

So the broad strokes are now in place. This weekend I booked my flights to Austin and South by Southwest 2010 (and added a few days in San Francisco and The Valley – get in touch if you want to ‘do coffee’); the hotel room was reserved as I left Austin last year (forward planning, got to love it); and the Platinum pass was sorted in November. Now it gets interesting though, because it’s time to plan out and organise my time at SXSW. More than any other conference, SXSW Interactive is incredibly busy, with multiple and concurrent official sessions
