Le Web Accomodation Sorted
Given it’s the Paris Boat Show (or something) the weekend of Le Web, accomodation in Paris is to put it politely, pricey. Given I’m looking for three nights there, even the Holiday Inn’s rate of 80 euros a night is pretty steep. No matter, I’ve found a nice little Bed and Breakfast room in a nearby Youth Hostel that’s easily in my range. As with most things, the main thing is to have the Front of House looking perfect (ie actually be at the conference). The backstage area can be all matter of chaos and gaffa tape holding it togetehr,
I’ll Be Speaking at Le Web 3 On Second Life
Word reaches me from Loic Le Meur that I will be one of the Speakers at Le Web 3 (the renamed Les Blogs). I’ll be on the Second Life panel, provisionally entitled “Our Second Life: Are Digital Worlds Creating a Virtual Life Better Than Our Real Life?” My part will be to discuss Combat Cards the (real) collectible card game in the (virtual) world. Given that Combat Cards, in my view, hits a lot of what makes Second LIfe so ‘out there’ in a good way. Smidgits Video from PME, with Me.
Recieved an email this morning to let me know that the interview I did wth video podcast ‘Smidgits‘ at the PME has gone live. Here’s me with their host, Curb Stevens… But of course, the magic of moving pictures means that you wouldn’t normally see the bottom half… cue me getting the camera pointing down the way (the kilt helped). For me though, the show, while great, was incredibly superficial. iProng Music Panel Podcast (From PME)
One thing at the PME which was super-enjoyable (beyond the naked body painted crew from Sacramento Podcast Productions – Hi Marcia, Cassie and I think, Christina) was the iProng panel disccusion on podcasting and the music industry. Joining me on the panel were CC Chapmans (who I think you know) and Slau, a music producer who was behind the podsafe Christmas song last year. Portable Media Expo 2006 Thoughts
You may remember that I had some concerns about attending Tim and Emille’s Portable Media Expo 2006. After last year, I just wasn’t sure if there would be enough business payback to make it worthwhile. Well, through a combination of canny money saving tricks (such as realising that it was stupidly cheaper to pay for a handful of air miles to get the flight tickets for under $100 return from Scotland to California) and following some of my basic business rules (make sure you are seen and are remembered at industry events, don’t burn bridges, and always always be watching
